Description:

The Kendall SCD 700 Smart Compression Controller delivers compression to the leg, foot, or both to aid in the prevention of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), including Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE) in the at-risk patient1,2. It includes a flexible and transportable design, animated alerts with resolution prompts for any error, low noise, ease of cleaning, and a large LCD screen for visibility. As part of the Kendall SCD 700 Smart Compression system, the Controller includes the following smart features: Smart Compression Cycles Measure venous refill time using Vascular Refill Detection (VRD) technology and customize compression cycles automatically for each patient5 Move 100% more blood per hour3* Adjust accordingly when a patient’s needs change over time Smart Patient Compliance Displays the patient’s true wear time by nursing shift Features Patient Sensing™ technology, which alerts the nurse of removed sleeves Provides a wear time tool to support true compliance to therapy and quality improvement initiatives

Features:

• Patient detection — Facilitates tracking of patient therapy by detecting that the garments are actively worn.
• Animated alerts — Icons show the cause of an error and how it can be resolved.
• Durability — Limited liquid ingress (rating of IP23), robust Xylex™* material, and protected battery.
• Low noise — Soft overmolding with vibration dampeners for a quiet controller.
• Ease of cleaning — Smooth, grooveless surfaces and slim profile; compatible with most hospital-grade cleaning agents.
• Visibility — Graphic user interface featuring large icons on a 3.2-inch color LCD screen.

Benefits:

• prevention of leg swelling for people who stand or sit for long periods of time, like during a long flight
• management of varicose veins
• management of varicose veins and other leg symptoms during pregnancy
• prevention of venous thromboembolism in people who are immobile
• improved healing of leg ulcers
• prevention of leg ulcers coming back
• maintenance therapy for lymphedema
• improvement of chronic venous insufficiency and ulcer recurrence in older adults

Indications:

• The Kendall SCD™ 700 Sequential Compression System with Leg Sleeves is indicated for:
• Deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis
• Pulmonary embolism prophylaxis
• The system with foot cuffs is indicated for:
• Circulation enhancement
• Deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis
• Acute and chronic edema
• Extremity pain incident to trauma or surgery
• Leg ulcers
• Venous stasis/venous insufficiency

How It Works:

• An 11-second default compression cycle is applied to the patient’s leg.
• The sleeve deflates, holding 6 mmHg of pressure in the middle chamber of the calf.
• Pressure is held and monitored for up to 60 seconds to allow evaluation of calf girth changes.
• When calf girth stops increasing for 10 seconds, this signals that leg veins have refilled completely.
• Vascular refill time is calculated and set; the sleeve deflates.
• Vascular refill time is reevaluated every 30 minutes to account for patient variables.
